  • Dental Science is an area that has gained tremendous recognition in recent years. In the past, this important facet of Medical Science was neglected in comparison with mainstream medicine. The ratio of qualified Dental Surgeons was very low as compared to other medical faculties. This prompted the K.L.E. Society to establish a Dental College, one that would serve the populace of Karnataka and neighboring states. The Institute of Dental Sciences was setup in August 1985, within a sprawling 113 acre campus of the Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College. The Institute got off to a flying start under the leadership of late Dr. S.S. Khera as the first Principal.

The Dental Council of India (the apex body) gave the approval for the BDS course in 1989, since then the institution has come a long way and gained numerous accolades in the process.

Post Graduate course in dentistry was started in the year 1990. Today it prides itself in rendering Masters in all branches of Dentistry. All the courses are approved by the Dental Council of India. The BDS and MDS courses are affiliated to K.L.E University since 2006 and batches prior to them to the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore.

Today, the Institute boasts of an accomplished faculty in all departments. The laboratories and clinics are spacious, well furnished and have state of the art equipments and gadgets, both indigenous and imported to facilitate an excellent environment that is conducive for learning & patient care.

About us

Late Shri B M Kankanawadi during his service in Police Department had to go through an unfortunate episode of ill health of his wife. She had been consulted to a lot of Physicians for her survival and all gigantic efforts were futile. Amidst that, a Vaidya was consulted as a hope of Life, who examined the pulse and predicted that Mrs Kankanawadi would die on a particular day and time. Mr. Kankanawadi lost his wife as predicted by Vaidya on the aforesaid day. Though  Shri. Kankanawadi was devastated by her death, he was able to see this science of life as exquisite knowledge to the society.

Untimely death of Mrs Kankanawadi was inconceivable and turned to be a beacon for then Karnataka Ayurveda Vidyapeeth Society’s Ayurveda College, Hospital and Pharmacy which is currently known as KLEU’s Shri B M K Ayurveda Mahavidyalaya, PG studies and Research Centre. Homoeopathy is a most effective, harmless medical science founded by Dr. Samuel Hahnemann. It is based on fixed principles of single, similar and minimum. The basic principle is ‘similia similibus curenture’ meaning ‘like cures like’. As the medicines have a proven effect on healthy human beings, Homoeopathy relies more on an individualistic approach and has absolutely no adverse effects whatsoever, as has been observed at any given time.
